I keep getting told that my session has expired and I have to enter again. What's happening?

The Swingers Directory has an automatic session expiration after 60 minutes of no usage. If you find that your session is timing out prior to the 60 minutes, there are a couple of things that you can do to stop this from happening:
1.) Be sure that you have "cookies" enabled in your systems browser. 

2.) Be sure that the browser version that you are using is a current version. You may need to download a new version, if yours is older.

 

The following actions are highly recommended to remove any persistant cookie-problems,  if your sessions expire prematurely:

          IF YOU ARE USING INTERNET EXPLORER

1.) Close all instances of your browser that are open 

2.) Open WINDOWS EXPLORER and go to the following directory: WINDOWS\TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES (you may be prompted to SHOW FILES to see the contents of this folder) 

3.) Select ALL the files in this folder (you can do this by pushing down Ctrl-A or clicking on the EDIT OPTION and choosing SELECT ALL from the drop down list 

4.) Press the Delete Key on your keyboard 

5.) Your system may ask you to confirm file and cookie deletion. Tell it YES. Depending on how much information has been accumulated in this directory, this may take some time to complete. 

6) Restart your browser and re-login.

 

I can't finish registering! What should I do?

If you have already defined a USERNAME and PASSWORD, but did not finish registration, go here and enter your USERNAME and PASSWORD in the appropriate fields. If you have not done this within 5 days of initially creating a USERNAME and PASSWORD, your information will have been automatically removed from our system and you will have to re-register. 

This form will not help you if you have already successfully logged in to The Swingers Directory with your USERNAME and PASSWORD.

How can I contact The Swingers Directory?

My profile information has changed/I want to change my profile information...

After you have entered the site as a registered member, You will see a MODIFY PROFILE link on the left side. Click on that button to go to the profile modification screen. This screen shows your profile in a manner that other users will see it. To change any item in your profile, either  click on the appropriate button to highlight a choice, or fill the appropriate information into the form field. To submit or change a photo, video or audio clip, click on the appropriate choice towards the bottom of the screen. After you have made your updates, click on the SUBMIT button.

 

How do I change my Username and/or password?

We do not allow members to change their Username or password themselves. To change your username or password you will need to contact Ashley -  sdadmin@tech-style.net. We do this to avoid login and email problems.

How do I change my email address?

If you have moved and have a new Internet Service Provider, or you wish to change your e-mail address for any other reason, email your USERNAME, PASSWORD and CURRENT EMAIL ADDRESS to sdadmin@tech-style.net. Be sure to include your new email address.

How do I upload/update my photograph/video/audio clip?

1. After logging in , go to the MODIFY PROFILE page by clicking on the "MODIFY PROFILE" icon on the left side of the screen.
2. Click on the option of which media you wish to upload or change. These are listed toward the bottom of the MODIFY PROFILE page. You will be taken to the upload manager.
3. Click on the "Browse..." button, which will let you choose an image file (.gif or .jpeg), video file (.avi or .mov), or audio file (.wav) to upload. After choosing the file you wish to upload, click the "SUBMIT" button. Your photo will be uploaded to our server. You can upload as many photos, videos or audio clips as you wish, but there are size limits: currently these are PHOTOS: 200K, VIDEOS: 1024K, AUDIO: 200K. These totals are cumulative -- for example: you could upload ten 20K photos if you wished.
4. If you ever decide you want to remove your photo, you may do so by going to the attachment management screen and clicking on the word "DELETE" to the right of the file you wish to remove. You can preview the files you have already uploaded by clicking on it's name.

Important Note:

• We reserve the right to remove any photo or file which we deem offensive or inappropriate for this site. We will not approve any photo which contains Child Pornography and/or Bestiality. We will also not approve any photo which is overly large or clearly spam. Please try to keep photos within 400 pixels in width.

 

What if I can't upload a photograph?

For those who are unable to upload photos, or you don't have a SCANNER, please send your photo along with your handle and a cashiers check or money order (no personal checks) for $5 (payable to: Tech-Style) to:

If you need your photo back, please include a self addressed, stamped envelope, and allow a week or so for us to scan the image, upload it and return your photo. If you have a photo on a PC disk, send it along with $5 and we'll upload it for you!

 

Are profiles censored? Is there any limit to what I can put in my profile?

Yes. All member profiles are subject to approval by The Swingers Directory webmasters. We reserve the right to refuse any profile or photograph which we feel is inappropriate for this site. Repeat offenders of this rule will be banned from The Swingers Directory site. We have a wide allowance for personal expression, but hostility and spam will not be tolerated. We reserve the right to edit any and all ads if we consider their content inappropriate.

 

What are some important tips to remember when creating my profile?

The number of replies you get from other members will depend greatly on the quality of your profile. Here are some helpful tips which will help you:

• Upload a photograph/video or audio clip - People like to see who they're writing to, and as a result profiles with photographs get many more clicks than profiles which don't. One of our goals in creating this site was to make photograph submission as easy as possible, so please take advantage of this feature. If you don't have access to a scanner, and don't know anyone with access to a scanner, see What if I can't upload a photograph?
• Give yourself an identity - If you're going to take the time to upload a photo, try to include more than just a close up of your "privates." Include a range of photos, and if you feel comfortable doing so, try to let people see your face! Action shots and posed nudes are great too!
• Make a catchy title for your profile - When people do a search for listings on the site, the title of your profile is listed. As a rule, profile titles like "Hi!" do not catch people's attention.

• Tell others about yourself and what you want - Ads like "Write me. I want to have sex." typically will not result in a flood of email in your box! Be sure to fully describe yourself, your interests, and what you're looking for!

 

How do I send e-mail to members?

You can send e-mail to users by using the form at the bottom of that person's listing. Simply type in your message and click the "Send" button. Full members can also send INSTANT MESSAGES through the "WHO'S ONLINE" list. Note that members who send you mail will never be shown your actual e-mail address, so your privacy is guaranteed as long as you don't give your e-mail address out.

 

How do I get e-mail from other members?

You need to do NOTHING to receive e-mail sent to your Swingers Directory account. Whenever mail is sent to your online mailbox, you will automatically be notified at your real e-mail address. If you are online when someone sends you mail or an INSTANT MESSAGE, a pop-up window will let you know! Just close the pop-up window and click on the CHECK YOUR MAILBOX button.

What if another member is sending me abusive email?

If another member is sending you abusive email or is harassing you in any way, please don't hesitate to send an email message to Ashley - sdadmin@tech-style.net. We do not tolerate this kind of behavior. All matters will be investigated. All offenders will receive one warning. If the abuse persists, the offender's account will be deleted and the offender will be banned from the site.

 

How do I search for members?

There are two ways that you can search our database: by Username or by a detailed description. If you are looking for a specific person and you can remember their Username, click on the "SEARCH 4 A USER" button and enter it in the "User Name" field. If you are not looking for a specific person, but rather someone who matches a description you give, then use the second form on the BROWSE PROFILES page, which allows you to describe the kind of person you are looking for. You can currently search by other advertiser's location, sex and the sexes THEY wish to meet. You can also tell the system to only show you ads that contain certain words in the AD BODY.

 

How can I keep track of people I'm interested in? What is the "Hot List" feature?

Swingers Directory members, when you are browsing the listings, you will notice that every page has a button on it which says "Add this person to my hot list". Clicking on this button will do exactly what it says. Your Hot List is a list of members who you are interested in, and maintains a link to their page. You can remove people from your Hot List by clicking on the "Remove" checkbox next to their name, and then clicking on the "Update List" button.

 

How can I send a photo with my mail or reply to another user?

This is the process to add photos to MAIL or AD REPLIES you are sending.

If you are in your mailbox sending a reply to someone, you will click on the link labelled "Mail Attachments" to open the Attachment Manager -- this link is found directly above the SEND and CANCEL buttons.

If you are viewing an ad you can open the Attachment Manager by clicking on the link labeled "Attachments" -- this is found directly above the SUBMIT and RESET buttons.

The ATTACHMENT MANAGER WINDOW will pop open on your screen when choosing either of these links.

1.Click the Browse button to select the file that you want to attach, or type the path to the file ON YOUR SYSTEM in the box below. When you click BROWSE, a window will pop-up on your screen allowing you to find the file you wish to attach from your system. Choose the file just like you would open a file in a program. If you have done this correctly, text showing the path to your file will appear in the box next to the words "Upload file:*"

2. Click the SUBMIT button. The transfer of an attached file may require 30 seconds to up to a few minutes.

3. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 to attach additional files. Click the CLOSE button to return to your message.

 

I forgot my password. What can I do to recover it?

From the front page of the personals area, enter your USER NAME in the appropriate field and then click on the link which reads "Forgot password? Click here." On the following page, you will be prompted to click on a button and have your password e-mailed to you at the e-mail address you entered when you registered for the site. If this does not work and you do not receive an email with your user information within an hour, please email Ashley - sdadmin@tech-style.net, with your username and the email address that you used when you registered.

 

 

I am a FULL MEMBER and wish to cancel my subscription. How can I do this?

To cancel your FULL MEMBERSHIP subscription, please send an email to Ashley - sdadmin@tech-style.net with your request to CANCEL your subscription. Please include your USERNAME, EMAIL ADDRESS and SUBSCRIPTION NUMBER (This is in the receipt automatically emailed to you when you became a FULL MEMBER). *Please allow 3 business days to process all cancellation requests. Cancellation requests must be received at least 3 business days prior to scheduled renewal of current membership. After receiving your request we will mark your account to expire at the end of your current membership period at which point your membership will revert to GUEST STATUS. If you wish us to Cancel your subscription AND remove your ad BEFORE your membership period has expired, you must request this SPECIFICALLY when requesting a cancellation.
